Costume Information
Students will be sent home with a costume, garment bag and hanger, all of which MUST BE RETURNED. Costumes are tried on in class and sent home the week after spring break.
Costumes must remain in the garment bag when taken home and placed somewhere safe. Keep them out of reach of pets and small children. Only one costume is given to each child. A second will not be given if something happens to it.
DO NOT FORGET YOUR COSTUME THE DAY OF DRESS REHEARSAL!
DO NOT FORGET YOUR COSTUME THE DAY OF THE SHOW!
Students will supply their own base that can be used year after year. The base of the costume usually consists of a long sleeve black, scoop neck leotard and pink tights. The base needed for each costume will be sent out by April. These items will be available for purchase at the Creative Dance Center.
Hair for all students should be up in a neat and secure bun for dress rehearsal and the show. Makeup should be worn. No jewelry.
ONLY WATER MAY BE CONSUMED WHILE WEARING COSTUMES.
After the show, students will leave their costumes in the garment bag, on the hanger with their room attendant. NO COSTUMES MAY GO HOME AFTER THE SHOW.
Plan to arrive for dress rehearsal with your costume(s) at least 15 minutes before your group time. DO NOT WEAR YOUR COSTUME DIRECTLY TO THE HIGH SCHOOL. PLEASE PUT IT ON WHEN YOU GET THERE ALONG WITH YOUR DANCE SHOES. A limited amount of time is allotted to each group. If dress rehearsal is missed, there is no opportunity to make it up. A missed rehearsal will not only affect the individual, but the entire group dance as well.
PLEASE NOTE: NO FOOD OR DRINK IS ALLOWED IN THE AUDITORIUM!
NO PICTURES OR VIDEO DURING THE PERFORMANCE. It is distracting and disrespectful to audience members surrounding you. Videos and pictures may be taken at dress rehearsal.
Dancers should arrive at EHHS no later than 30 minutes before the show on recital day. Advanced dancers should arrive no later than 1 hour before the show. During the performance, all students should stay backstage for the entire performance. They will be assigned designated areas backstage that will be supervised by adult attendants during the show. THE ONLY BEVERAGE THAT IS ALLOWED BACKSTAGE IS WATER.
It is a tradition that performers receive flowers and bring them onto the stage at the finale. It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to provide flowers prior to show time. Flowers can be purchased from anywhere. Flowers should be left with the dancer when they are dropped off at their backstage classroom on the day of the show.
Tickets
Each family is guaranteed 6 tickets. Tickets are $18 each (cash, check, or venmo) and will be available April 1st. Please fill out the form below by April 1st that indicates how many tickets you need.
If you need MORE than 6, please indicate the TOTAL NUMBER of tickets you need on the form. If there are families that don’t need all 6, those additional tickets will transfer over to families that need more than 6. The retrieval of additional tickets will come on a first come, first serve basis.
Infants and toddlers sitting on a parent’s lap do not need a ticket. ALL SEATS NEED A TICKET.
TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT THE DOOR
The last day to purchase your tickets is May 6th.
Backstage Volunteers
Several backstage volunteers are needed to ensure everything runs smoothly during the show. Volunteering backstage consists of:
- Help with costume/shoe changes
- Accompany younger students to the bathroom
- Keep dancers quiet during the show
- Help line dancers up when its time for them to go onstage and accompany them to and from the stage
- Make sure all dancers carry their flowers onto the stage for the finale
- Collect all costumes in their garment bags after the show
- Help me make sure we leave the classroom exactly how we found it
If you can help backstage, you will be able to be with your child’s class and will be able to watch their dance from backstage during the show. A signup sheet for backstage volunteers will be posted in the dance studio.
Raffle
Every year we raffle off donated gift cards and items on the day of the recital from local businesses and surrounding towns. If you have a small business that can donate merchandise or a gift card to our raffle or have a connection to a business that might be able to donate, please let us know. We greatly appreciate any donations that can be made!
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask and please fill out the ticket count form as soon as possible.
